George P. Reichel

George Paul Reichel, 82, of 739 Clark St., Galesburg, died at 1:30 p.m. on Monday April 28, 2008 at Cottage Hospital.  George was born on March 7, 1926 in Germany ,the son of Maxamillion and Anna Stein Reichel.  George emigrated to the United States in 1955.  He married Julia Gross on April 7, 1956 in Galesburg.  Surviving George are his wife, Julia of Galesburg; a daughter, Mary Ann (Joseph) Russell of Avon; a sister, Magdalina Wolff of Germany; and a granddaughter, Jennifer Russell of Avon.  He was preceded in death by his son John on December 28, 1978 and a sister.   George was a baker by trade working for Howe Anderson Bakery and lastly worked as a linesman at Maytag for over 20 years.  He was a member of the Aerospace Union and the Chess Club.  He was a member of Corpus Christi Church.  Funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 1, 2008 at Corpus Christi Church.  Visitation will be from 9:15 – 10:15 a.m. Thursday, at Watson Funeral Home.  Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to Corpus Christi Church.
