Gerald Leroy “Jerry” Price, 81, of Galesburg, formerly of Berwick, died at 1:24 a.m. Monday, March 11, 2019 at Heartland Health Care surrounded by his loving family. Jerry was born July 21, 1937 in Galesburg, the son of William Theodore and Jessie Lee (Cawkins) Price.  After graduating high school Jerry served in the US Army.  He married Kathryn Elizabeth Knowles on June 11, 1962 in Galesburg.Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Kathy; three sons, Brad (DeAnn) Price of Galesburg, Brian Price of London Mills, and John (Julie) Price of East Galesburg; and one brother, William T. Price, Jr., of Galesburg.  Jerry is also survived by his beloved grandchildren; Scott (Devin) Bodenhamer of Galesburg, Jami (Chad) Truelove and Becca Price both of East Peoria, Nick (Liz) Cross of Galesburg, Keith (Kim) Price of Springfield, Jessie (Bryan) Taylor of Galesburg, and Hallie Price of East Galesburg; and nine great grandchildren.  Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Brenda Bodenhamer on February 25, 2018. Jerry and Kathy lived in Berwick until 2016 when they moved to Galesburg.  He attended Berwick Baptist Church.  Jerry worked in retail and automotive for most of his life before spending many years at Ace Hardware and retiring from People’s Do It Best Center, in Galesburg.  His true passion was classic car restoration and antique cars.  Jerry was a charter member and past president of WIAAC (Western Illinois Antique Auto Club) as well as a charter member of Limited Rods. In tandem with his classic car passion was his love of bench racing.  A celebration of life/visitation will be held Saturday, March 16, 2019 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Thomas Legacy Center at Watson Thomas Funeral Home.  Funeral services will follow at 12 p.m. at the funeral home.  Chaplain Jordan Knight will officiate.  Entombment will follow at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg. As per Jerry’s wishes the family would like for attendees to dress casual.  Memorials may be made in Jerry’s honor to Hospice Compassus or Berwick Baptist Church.
