Glenda “Marlene” Ryden, 73, of Galesburg, died at 4:45 p.m. Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria. Marlene was born June 15, 1948 in Monmouth, the daughter of Clara Imogene (Steele) and Benjamin Eugene Pratt.  She married Dan Gregory and later married Richard Ryden.  He preceded her in death.  Marlene is survived by two sons, Ronnie (Beth) Gregory of Abingdon and Michael (Janice Townsend) Ryden of Galesburg; eight grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.  Marlene is also survived by her sister, Norma Jean Morris of Galesburg; and a special friend, Larry Akin of Knoxville.  Marlene was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kaitlin McCoy. Marlene worked for 33 years at Maytag and later worked for 16 years at Dick Blick.  She enjoyed watching soap operas, spending time with her cats, and reading James Patterson books.  Marlene was a member of Bethany Baptist Church and Moose Lodge #880. Cremation has been accorded.  Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, October 29, 2021 at East Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.  Memorials may be made to the Guardian Angels Humane Society.
