Glenn “Dick” Richard Boyer, 81, of Galesburg, died at 7:50 a.m., November 11, 2010 at his residence. He was born August 17, 1929 in Galesburg, the son of Glenn Nelson and C. Lucille Dennis Boyer. He married Margaret “Peg” Bellamy on October 10, 1970 in Galesburg. Surviving Dick is his wife, Peg of Galesburg; a son, Richard D. Boyer of Galesburg; a daughter, Leanne (and Terry) Showalter of Johnstown, Colorado; three stepsons, Lyndon (and Patty) Sauter, John J. Sauter, and Scott (and Kat) Sauter all of Galesburg; two step-daughters, Cynthia (and Tom) Brock and Alice (and James) Mason both of Galesburg; a brother, James (and Carol) Boyer of Rio; and two sisters, Gloria Seifert of Hiawatha, Iowa, and Norma Lee (and Robert) Hroziencik of Galesburg. Also surviving is 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Robert Seifert. Dick graduated from Galesburg High School in 1947 and worked at Gale Products retiring in 1983. Dick served as a staff sergeant in the US Army from 1951 to 1953 during the Korean War. He was a lifelong Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan. Per his wishes there will be no services and cremation rites will be accorded. Burial of ashes will be at a later date. Memorials may be made to Hospice Compassus or to the American Caner Society. Services have been entrusted to Watson Funeral Home, Galesburg.
