Harry S. Fernando

Harry S. Fernando, 58, of Galesburg, Illinois, died Wednesday, February 14, 2024 at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota after a valiant battle with cancer.

Harry was born on July 15, 1965 in the Philippines the son of Dionesio and Eusebia Fernando. After graduating from high school Harry went on to attend and graduate from Cebu Institute of Technology in the Philippines with a Bachelor of Science in Electronic Engineering. Harry later married Mary Ann Pamatin on May 18, 1991 in the Philippines. They later emigrated to the United States.

Harry will be missed by his wife of 32 years, Mary Ann of Galesburg; and their beloved three children, Ryan Fernando of Kirksville, Missouri, Dan (Fiancé, Reagan Mudd) Fernando of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Adrianne Fernando of Galesburg. Harry is also survived by his siblings, Arthur, Celso, Dina, Nolie, Grace, Irish, and Jerome. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Brenda.

Harry was a dedicated employee of Big River Resources where he worked as a maintenance specialist. He loved to play tennis and encouraged his kids to play. In his free time Harry enjoyed being outdoors from spending time fishing to tending to his flower and vegetable gardens. A Mr. Fixit, Harry could fix anything around the house. The family were active members of St. Patrick Catholic Church and Harry was an active member of the Filipino-American Committee. He also enjoyed watching basketball.

Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 23, 2024 at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. The rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 24, 2024 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Galesburg. Cremation will be accorded following services. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
