Helen H. Ryden

Helen H. Ryden, 100, of Galesburg, died at 12:13 p.m. Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at Seminary Manor.  She was born January 3, 1914 in Victoria, Illinois, the daughter of Floyd and Edna (Moak) Huber.  She married Russell J. Ryden of Abingdon, Illinois on September 1, 1934 in Davenport, Iowa.  He died July 5, 1977.  She married Kenneth F. Jones on February 14, 1994.  He died November 19, 2006.  Surviving is one son A. Jan (Sandra) Ryden of Hampton, IL; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Mary Sue (Ryden) Harpman; and a brother, Gordon Huber.  She was raised and educated in Victoria and graduated from Victoria High School.  She received her teaching certificate from Illinois State University, Normal, Illinois.  She was a teacher for thirty four years.  She taught in Elmwood for 3 years, London Mills (Valley) for 9 years, Abingdon for 5 years, and ROVA-Victoria for 13 years.  She was a member of ROVA, Knox County, and Illinois Retired Teachers Association.  Cremation rites will be accorded.  Memorials may be made to the Victoria Methodist Church or the Alzheimer’s Association.     “Please remember me as I was when I remembered you.”
