Helen I. Skillman, 74, of 1566 Edgebrook Dr., Galesburg, died at 3:55 p.m. on Saturday July 8, 2006, at home.   She was born on March 8, 1932 in Galesburg the daughter of Elmer and Mina Fryrear Terpening.  Helen married James “Bob” Skillman on October 8, 1952 in Galesburg.  Surviving are her husband Bob of Galesburg;  1 son:  Jim of East Galesburg; 1 daughter:  Lori (Steve) Heck of Galva; 2 sisters:  Norma (George) Perrigo of Sparta, MO; and Verna Bell of Phoenix, AZ.  She is also survived by 4 grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by 1 brother and her parents.   Helen graduated from Knoxville High School and was a homemaker.  She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church.  She enjoyed painting and her pets.  Helen loved to quilt and crochet.  Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 12 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, with the Rev. Ernest Pizzamiglio officiating.  Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Watson Funeral Home, with the rosary being prayed at 7 p.m. Burial will be in Knoxville Cemetery, Knoxville.  Memorials may be made to the family.  Expressions of sympathy may be made at www.watsonfh.net.
