Henry R. “Hank” Bresnahan, 84, of Galesburg, died on Saturday, October 1, 2016, 11:07 AM, at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg. Hank was born on September 11, 1932, in Monmouth, Illinois. He is the son of James Raymond and Mary Jane (Gaul) Bresnahan, He married Kathleen Daniels in January of 1954; he later married Susie (Foster) Landers at the Altona Presbyterian Church in 1980. He is survived by his loving wife, Sue of Galesburg; five children, Jim (Sheri) Bresnahan of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, Vickie Hager, Kyle (Opal) Bresnahan, Theresa Bresnahan all of Monmouth, and Joseph (Jenny) Bresnahan of Galesburg; step-sons, Jeff (Maureen) Landers of Gridley, Illinois, and Jason (Barb) Landers of Abingdon; brothers, Charlie Bresnahan, and John (Pat) Bresnahan, both of Monmouth; sister Rosemary Hufford of Reno Nevada; mother-in-law, Juanita Foster of Oneida; brother-in-law, Terry Foster of Oneida; sisters-in-law, Wendy Baxter of Missouri City, Texas, and Dawn Dennis of Oneida; special niece, Brandy Walters of Oneida; special friends, Gene (Dee) Gibson of Rio; 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Hank attended Monmouth schools. He was a veteran of the US Navy; serving in the Korean War. He then worked as a supervisor at Rock Tenn (Jefferson Smurfit) for 31 years until his retirement. Hank was a member of Immaculate Conception, Catholic Church, Monmouth, and later attended Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Galesburg VFW #2257, Oneida American Legion Post 727, and Little John Conversation Club. Hank enjoyed his Tuesday morning coffee with his friends, hunting, fishing, golfing, and motorcycles; but most of all he loved to spend time with his family and his wife, Sue. Visitation for will be from 9-11 AM, Wednesday, October 5, 2016, at Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Funeral services will follow immediately after visitation at 11. Pastor Milton Marquith and Deacon Will Clark will officiate. Cremation rites will be accorded following services. A private burial of cremated remains will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted with Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Memorials in Hank’s honor may be given to, the VFW of Galesburg and the Greater Peoria Honor Flight for veterans.
