Jack G. Stevenson

Jack G. Stevenson, 62, of Galesburg, died at 2 a.m. on Monday, December 21, 2009 at home.   Jack was born on September 9, 1947 in Ottumwa, IA the son of Gilbert and Dorothy Steepleton Stevenson.  He married Barbara Marty on January 9, 1970 in Aledo.  Surviving Jack is his wife, Barb of Galesburg; a son, Marty (Julie) of Galesburg; 3 daughters, Bobbi Stevenson, Kelly (Kelly) Kubicek, and Gina Stevenson all of Galesburg; 2 brothers, Jim (Jerilynn) of Alexis and Terry (Peggy) of Galesburg; and 2 sisters, Vivian (John) McDermet of Gilson and Sue Severns of Abingdon.  Also surviving Jack are his grandchildren with whom he loved spending time with, Isaiah Stevenson, Karma Maner-Stevenson, Jaxon Stevenson, and a granddaughter who is expected in early February.   Jack owned and operated Jack Stevenson Construction in Galesburg for over 30 years.  He served in the US Army from 1966 to 1968.  He was a member of VFW Post #2257, and Operators Union local 649.  He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.  Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 23 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Msgr. Ernest Pizzamiglio officiating.  Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at Watson Funeral Home with the rosary being prayed at 8 p.m.  Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, where military rites will be conducted by Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post #285 Honor Guard.  Memorials may be made to the Jack G. Stevenson benefit account at Tompkins State Bank.
