Jackie Dale Gowler, 69, of Galesburg, died at 11:26 a.m. Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at home. Jack was born December 2, 1948 in Galesburg, the son of Walter D. and Betty L. (Moore) Gowler. Jack enlisted in the US Army on July 14, 1971. He was honorably discharged on July 12, 1974. He worked as an oil loader for ADM for 25 years, retiring in 1988. Jack is survived by two daughters, Candy Trout of Lake of the Ozarks, MO and Jacqueline (Duane) McGruder of Galesburg; six grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. He is also survived by good friends, Shelia Shunick, Leslie Moore, Spanky Stroops, and Gerald Crawford. Along with his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his twin brother, Jesse and a sister, Rossie Sargent. Jack enjoyed playing darts and sitting on his front porch. He also enjoyed small engine repair, working in the yard and splitting wood. Cremation rites will be accorded. Burial of cremated remains will be 10 a.m. Monday, October 8, 2018 at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg with military rites by the VFW/American Legion and AMVETS honor guard. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
