Jacob Anthony Ralston, 40, of Valdosta, Georgia, died Wednesday, July 31, 2024, in Valdosta.


Jake was born June 8, 1984, at Fort Knox, Kentucky, the son of Judy Annette (Webber) and Robert E. Ralston, Jr. He graduated from Galesburg High School class of 2002, after the events of 9/11 he went on to enlisted in the United States Air Force. Serving over 16 years of active duty, Jake completed 8 overseas/combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. Earning numerous awards and campaign medals. After leaving the Air Force Jake went on to work as a maintenance contractor, last working for Chasers Home Services.


Jake is survived by his mother, Judy (Aaron) Pensinger of Farmington, Illinois; his father, Robert (Cirila) Ralston Jr. of Indianapolis, Indiana; two children, Kolton and Layce; his grandmother, Linda Ralston of Galesburg; and his maternal grandparents, Ronald and Joyce Webber of Galesburg. He is also survived by one brother, Brandon (Sarai) Ralston of Hobart, Indiana; two sisters, Erika Ralston of Bowling Green, Kentucky and Teresa Ralston of Indianapolis, Indiana; one stepbrother; two stepsisters; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Robert Ralston, Sr. He also was preceded in death before his birth by his paternal grandmother Ruth Ann (Way) Ralston.


Jake was a patriot through and through, his years in the military only strengthened his love for his country. He is an American Hero! He was an avid collector of Jack Daniels Paraphernalia, and unopened rare bottles. He enjoyed fishing, online gaming, Fort Night, Call of Duty, Twitch, and TikTok. He loved watching his brother stream and make funny comments. Jake was self-taught in the art of woodworking and carpentry. But most of all he loved spending time with family and his friends. His smile and sense of humor would always lighten up the room. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.


Cremation has been accorded. A celebration of life will be 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, August 16, 2024, at the Thomas Legacy Center, 1849 N. Seminary St., Galesburg, Illinois. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family for the benefit of his children.
