James Daughtery, 61, of Galesburg, died at 6:50 a.m. Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center. He was born April 18, 1950 in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Benjamin and Edna (Ring) Daughtery. He married Rachelle Stratton on June 27, 1990 in Rock Island. He is survived by his wife, Rachelle; 2 sons, Terry Norris, Jr. of Galesburg and Jared Fragd of Houston, TX; 5 daughters, Jamie (Cleverette) Conley of Kewanee, Joani(Seng) Linthakhanh of Freeport, Jolene Daughtery of Flanagan, Jeri Krause of Oneida, and Shelly Ince of Galesburg; 19 grandchildren; a brother, Ron (DeAnn) Daughtery of Sheffield; and 4 sisters, Sharon (Gale) Leasman of Galva, Norita (John) O’Dell of Salem, Sarah Madson of Murrieta, CA, and Lena (Paul) Linninburger of New London, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, and 3 sisters. James was a welder for 20 years, working at Case in Bettendorf, Iowa and Advanced Metal in Kewanee before retiring in 1988 due to a military disability. He enjoyed his children and grandchildren and spending time with his family. James enjoyed being outdoors and riding his Harley. James served in the US Army from 1968 to 1970 in Vietnam. Visitation will be Noon to 2 p.m. Friday November 25, 2011 at Watson Funeral Home. Military rites will be conducted by Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285 at 2 p.m. Cremation will be accorded following the visitation. Memorials may be made to the family.
