James F. Dougherty

James F. Dougherty, 80, of Galesburg, died at 11 p.m. Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at Rosewood Care Center, Galesburg. Jim was born December 28, 1933 in Galesburg, the son of Paul P. and Mary F. Besser Dougherty.  Jim joined the US Army in 1956.  After receiving an honorable discharge, Jim returned to Galesburg, where he began a 39 year career at Admiral, retiring in May 1992.  Jim was a long time member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church.  In his free time he enjoyed watching and listening to sports. Jim is survived by four brothers, Ed of Anaheim Hills, CA, Bob of Cypress, CA, John of Springfield, and Mike of Galesburg; four sisters, Mary Cokel of E. Moline, Pat Hillier, Helen Kilby, and Rita Hultquist all of Galesburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Dick. Visitation will be 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 8, 2014 at Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg, with a funeral service following at 10:30 a.m.  Rev. William T. Miller, IC will officiate.  Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Galesburg.  Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
