James "Jim" Vanier

James (Jim) A. Vanier, 65, of Galesburg, died Friday, October 15, 2021 at Marigold Health Care Center.  Jim was born March 19, 1956 in Galesburg. He is the son of Martha and Richard England of Galesburg. Jim married Sarah Newman of Hoopeston, IL in 1973 and later divorced. Together they had 2 children. Jim lived most of his life in Galesburg and Paxton, IL. Surviving are his parents; son, Jason A. Vanier of Hoopeston, IL; daughter, Jessica Vanier-Wainwright of Wellington, IL; 4 grandchildren: Connor, Madison, Caden, and Raiven; plus his (furry) friend Jasper; a brother, Jay (Sue) Vanier of Peoria, IL; two sisters, Janet Johnson of Exeter, CA and Judith (Tony) Singer of Galesburg.He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Jon A. Vanier.  The family would like to thank the many caregivers from Help at Home for their compassionate care for Jim over the years.  Cremation has been entrusted to Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory. There will be no visitation or services. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Knox County Humane Society.
