James Norman Tucker, 70, of Galesburg, died at his home on January 28, 2010 at 4:29 p.m. Jim was born on September 8, 1939 in Galesburg, the son of Jack and Helen Swain Tucker. He married Janice Townsend on August 2, 1958 in Galesburg. Jim is survived by two sons, James Brian (Ann) Tucker and Jason (Dawn) Tucker both of Galesburg, a daughter, Lori (Tom) Hedden of Galesburg, and a sister, Jackie (Don) Johnson of Galesburg. Also surviving Jim are his grandchildren with whom he loved to spend time with, Katie, Tyler, Hannah, Lexi, and Abby Tucker, and Shawn and Whitney Hedden. Preceding Jim in death was the love of his life for nearly 50 years Janice on April 7th, 2008, and his parents. Jim retired from Maytag after 39 years of service. He enjoyed taking trips to Las Vegas, watching University of Illinois basketball, and the St. Louis Cardinals. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday, February 1, 2010 at Watson Funeral Home, with Rev. Melva England officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg. Memorials may be made to United Way of Knox County or to OSF Hospice.
