James Lee Orozco, 54, of Galesburg, passed away Friday, March 14, 2025 at his home.
He was born June 20, 1970 in Galesburg, the son of Andres H. and Delores (Garza) Orozco. Jimmy was reared and educated in Galesburg. He worked at Maytag and bartended at La Mesa Inn for many years until both of their closures. Jimmy also worked as an independent painter for quite some time and had a few other odd jobs over the years.
Left to cherish his memory is his mother, Delores Orozco of Galesburg; one son, Skyler Orozco of Davenport, Iowa; one daughter: Sierra Orozco of Galesburg; and his two beloved granddaughters: Avana Jane Orozco and O’Lani Lynn Orozco. Also surviving is one stepson, Jonathan “J.C.” Hengl of Galesburg; one stepdaughter, Lacie Hengl of Abingdon, Illinois; and one brother, Petey Orozco of Peoria, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his father; one brother, Andrew Orozco; and his significant other of 20 years, Annette Ferris.
Jimmy was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. He enjoyed watching sports, listening to music, and spending time with his family. Jimmy liked being outdoors whether it was fishing or cooking on the grill. He was of the Catholic faith. Jimmy was a loving and devoted son, father, grandfather, brother, and friend and will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, March 29, 2025 at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory in Galesburg. Rosary will be prayed at 12:30 p.m. with funeral service to follow at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Deacon Michael Crummer will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Galesburg. Memorial contributions can be made to the family in care of Watson Thomas Funeral Home.
