James R. Pogue, 88, of Galesburg, died at 9:44 a.m. on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at Cottage Hospital. Jim was born on October 27, 1921 in Galesburg, the son of Ralph and Mary Welsh Pogue.  He married Joan Eddy on August 30, 1947 in Galesburg.  Surviving is his son, Tom (Rose) of Oneida; 2 daughters, Ann (Joseph) Filer of Mahomet and Janet (Andy) Tolle of Galesburg; 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.  Also surviving is a brother, Bernard of Galesburg and a sister Mary Jane Gregory of Platte City, MO.  He was preceded in death by his wife Joan in September of 2007; a son, David; an infant daughter, Mary; and 3 brothers, Thomas, John, and Robert. Jim served in the US Army during WWII.  He graduated from Knox College in 1948.  He then worked as a high school teacher and coach at Corpus Christi High School, ROVA, and last worked in Knoxville, retiring after many years.  After retirement he worked for Country Companies.  Jim coached the ROVA 49’ers basketball team.  He was inducted in to the Knox College Hall of Fame and was a member of the Knox 50 Year Club.  He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church. Private family services will be held.  No visitation is planned.  Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, Knox College 50 year club, Lions Club sight services, or a charity of the donor’s choice.  Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Funeral Home, Galesburg.
