James S. Johnston

James Sheridan Johnston, 64, of Galesburg, died at 5:45 p.m. on July 14, 2017 in OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria. Jim was born on October 5, 1962 in Galesburg, the son of Thomas Louis and Norma Jean Sheridan Johnston.  He married Shirley Joan Thompson on April 30, 1994 in Knoxville.  She survives of Galesburg.  Jim is also survived by two sons, Lee Johnston Boone of Galesburg and James S. Johnston, Jr. of Peoria; one step son, Jeffrey Boone of Columbus, OH; two step daughters, Tina Nelson of Columbus, OH and Cara Boone of Tampa, FL; two brothers, Mike Johnston of Knoxville and Steve Johnston of Mississippi; two sisters, Lori Durhan of Peoria and Susan of Florida; as well as five grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents. Jim attended Carl Sandburg College and worked as a self employed handyman.  He enjoyed working in the yard, especially the garden.  He also loved to go fishing and watching sports on television including wrestling and football. Cremation rites have been accorded and no services will be held.
