James V. Stinson

James Vernon Stinson, 69, of Galesburg, died at 6:52 p.m. Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline, IL. Jim was born October 19, 1948 in Galesburg, the son of Robert Stanley and Melba Genevieve (DeLong) Stinson. Jim is survived by one son, Raymond Stinson of Monmouth; one sister, Cheryl Adams of Galesburg; two grandchildren, Shannon Jones and Samantha Jones-Stinson; and one great grandchild, Meeka. He was preceded in death by his mother. Jim served in the US Navy from June 9, 1966 to October 9, 1966, serving in Vietnam. Jim worked at OMC Gale Products and later Caterpillar. Visitation will be 11:30 to 1 p.m. at Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg with funeral services following at 1 p.m. Pastor Darrell Grimm will officiate. Burial with military rites will be in Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg. Memorials may be made to the Knox County Humane Society.
