Janice E. Candor

Janice E. Youngquist Candor, 82, Galesburg, died Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at OSF St. Mary's Medical Center, Galesburg. Janice was born August 9, 1934 in Cameron, the daughter of Elmer E. and Lois Fair Youngquist. She married Larry T. Candor on June 18, 1960 in Cameron. Janice is survived by her husband of nearly 57 years, Larry of Galesburg; two sons, Tom (Jeri) Candor of Cameron and Jon Candor of San Francisco, CA; one daughter, Sara (Troy) Carr of Galesburg; seven grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers, Gene (Nancy) Youngquist of Cameron and Frank (Barb) Youngquist of Rock Island. Along with her parents, Janice was preceded in death by two sisters, Marian Isaacson and Barbara Mast. Janice graduated from Monmouth College with a deep love for history and geography and had a 37 year career as a school teacher for District 205, retiring in 1994. She was a member of Cameron Christian Church and the garden club where she fostered her love of daylilies. But most of all Janice loved her family and was the happiest when she was spending time with them at Satellite Beach, Florida. A Celebration of Life will be held from 1 to 4 pm, Sunday, April 30, 2017 at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Memorials may be made to Galesburg Public Schools Foundation or St. Jude's.
