Jay C. Churn

Jay Christopher Churn, 54, of Galesburg died at 3:00 a.m. Saturday, September 9, 2017 in Rosewood Care Center, Galesburg. Jay was born March 22, 1963 in Galesburg the son of James Porter and Devena Frances LaFollette Churn.  Jay is survived by one son, Christopher Churn of Knoxville; two sisters, Kelly Mixon and Marie Churn both of Galesburg; and five brothers, James, and Melvin both of Galesburg, Arnet of Portland, OR, Grayling of McAllister, OK, and Tommy of Vancouver, WA.  Jay was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Dean Churn. Jay worked off and on for many years in the food industry.  Jay will long be remembered as a devoted father and a true man of God who was always serving others.  He was also a faithful prayer warrior of many and a lover of chocolate. Cremation rites will be accorded.  Jay’s Celebration of Life will be 5 p.m. Thursday, September 14, 2017 at the First Church of the Nazarene.  Pastor Harold Berrien will officiate.  Burial of cremated remains will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Galesburg.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.  Memorials may be made in Jay’s memory to the First Church of the Nazarene.
