Jaylene S. Boughton

Jaylene Sue Boughton, 68, of Galesburg, died peacefully at her son’s home in Abingdon, surrounded by her loving family at 11:11 p.m. Saturday, September 11, 2021. Jaylene was born October 17, 1952 in Galesburg, the daughter of Enis Jay and Fern Louise (Asbury) Hoyle.  She married Junior Clyde Boughton on March 21, 1991 in East Galesburg.  Junior preceded her in death on March 7, 2018.  Jaylene is survived by two sons, Lonnie Hoyle of Abingdon and Ricky (Jenny) Boughton of Monmouth; one daughter, Carol (James) Davis of Galesburg; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.  Jaylene is also survived by one brother, Mike Asher of Texas; and one sister, Donna Favorite of Greenbriar, AR.  Along with her parents and husband, Jaylene was preceded in death by one daughter, Marci McClendon on December 30, 2006.  Jaylene had deep faith in the Lord and was a member of Colonial Baptist Church, Galesburg.  She was born with the gift of gab and enjoyed talking with people.  She loved being a grandma and was extremely proud of all her grandchildren.  Jaylene was a movie buff and loved music especially 50’s and 60’s.  Jaylene also enjoyed reading, puzzles, fishing, watching old westerns and the Dr. Blake Murder Mysteries. Visitation will be 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Colonial Baptist Church, Galesburg.  With memorial services following at 5 p.m.  Pastor Darrell Grimm will officiate.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.  Memorials may be made to Colonial Baptist Church or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
