Jeanette M. Costello

Jeanette M. Costello, 96, of Galesburg, died at 1:50 AM Monday, April 24, 2017 in the Heritage Park Care Center, Carbondale, CO. Jeanette was born on May 23, 1920 in West Point, Iowa, the daughter of Herman Edward and Mary Adelaide Holtkamp Boeding. She married Paul Michael Costello on April 25, 1945 in West Point. He preceded her in death on June 7, 2010. She graduated from St. Mary's High School in West Point and attended Fort Madison Business College, Fort Madison, IA. She first worked in the office at W.A. Sheaffer Pen Co. in Fort Madison, IA. She then worked in the office of the Iowa State Penitentiary, Fort Madison IA. After moving to Illinois, Jeanette worked in the administrative office at Monmouth College, Monmouth, and retired as a legal secretary at Spears and Spears Law Office in Monmouth. Jeanette was a longtime member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, St. Augustine, IL. She was also a member and former officer of the St. Augustine Altar and Rosary Society. Jeanette is survived by three sons, Mark J. (Rebecca Brackett) Costello of Sante Fe, NM, Daniel J. (Kimberly) Costello of Windermere, FL, and Patrick L. (Debra, decd.) Costello of Williamsburg, VA and two daughters, Charlyn M. (Dean, decd.) Canada of Vail, CO and A. Kathleen (J. Michael) Chandler of Basalt, CO. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Collins C. (Patrick, decd.) Kelly; Vashti M. (Ari) Davies, Nora M. and Rosemary C. Chandler; Michael W., Alanna N., Emily M. and Joseph M. Costello; and one great granddaughter, Clara Rose Kelly. Along with her husband and parents, Jeanette was preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene A. Boeding and Leonard J. Boeding, and two sisters, Marietta E. Boeding and Valeria E. Grimm. The rosary will be prayed at 4 PM Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Watson-Thomas Funeral Home, Galesburg, with visitation following from 5 to 7 PM. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 AM Friday, April 28, 2017 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, St. Augustine, IL. Father Dominic J. Vitaliano will officiate. Burial will be in St. Augustine Cemetery.
