Jerald Dean Stancomb, 59, of Dahinda, passed away peacefully with his wife by his side, on Wednesday, May 8, 2019, at their home. Jerald was born on April 18, 1960. He was the son of William and Paula (Riggs) Stancomb. He married Patty Dawson on June 8, 2014, in the same “watering hole” that he first laid eyes on her in Elmwood. He is survived by his wife, Patty; his father and step-mother, William (Donna) Stancomb of Knoxville; daughter Shelli Stancomb of Brimfield; sons, Jacob (Meagan) Stancomb of Williamsfield and Adam (Erica) Stancomb of Bartonville; step-sons, Kyle (Bae) McCready of Brimfield and Tyler (Jess) McCready of Elmwood; five grandchildren, Evan, Izac and Owen Clelland, Ellis and Callen Stancomb; five step-grandchildren, Dirk, Otto, Ruex, Charlie and Sam McCready; brothers, Dan (Michelle) Simpson of Princeville and Craig (Renee) Stancomb of East Peoria; and sister, Suzanne (Goody) Goodwin of Williamsfield. He was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Tom Simpson. Jerald was a welder for 45 years. He loved his music and was a known bass player for local bands, his first being “Krosflo” and then later playing in “Damn Strait.” Jerald loved to fish, mushroom hunt, camp, play and watch baseball; especially with his kids and grandkids. He was a fan of westerns, especially John Wayne, and loved jigsaw puzzles. He was the fun dad and everyone’s favorite uncle. Jerald loved to be ornery and bicker with his loved ones to get a rise out of them. There was one thing that Jerald did not like though…those pesky FLIES. Jerald’s fun-loving spirit and playful banter is going to be missed by all who loved him. Cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of life is planned for a later date.
