Joan Beth Malcolm

Joan Beth Malcolm, 83, of rural Galesburg, died at 1:15 a.m. Wednesday, January 13, 2016 in Rosewood Care Center, Galesburg surrounded by her loving family. Joan was born March 9, 1932 in Galesburg, the daughter of Clarence Robert and Zepha Mae Sallee Adcock.  Joan married Kenneth George Malcolm on September 27, 1953 in Galesburg.  Ken preceded her in death on May 15, 2008.  Joan is survived by one daughter, Lesa K. (Rick Bivens) Malcolm-Bivens of Moline; one son, Lance K. (Dawn) Malcolm of Galesburg; four grandchildren, Ryne Malcolm, Connor Malcolm-Bivens, Kenny Malcolm, and Kelin Malcolm.  Along with her husband, Joan was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; and two sisters. Joan was a long time member of Coldbrook Christian Church and the Pairs and Spares Group at church.  She enjoyed painting china and horseback riding.  Joan and Ken were members of the Prairie Drifters Snowmobile Club for many years.  Joan had a passion for cooking and enjoyed making meals and feeding everyone.  She was also a member of the Good Neighbors Club for many years.  Most of all Joan loved being with her family and pets. Per her wishes cremation rites will be accorded.  A celebration of life will be at a later date at the family farm.  Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.  Memorial contributions may be made in Joan’s memory to the Knox County Humane Society or to Hospice Compassus.
