Frances Joan (Jody) Rescinito, 97, Galesburg, passed away peacefully at Seminary Manor on April 3, 2025 at 1:55 a.m.

She was born January 21, 1928 in Humboldt IL, the daughter of Paul and Etta (Tolly) Rogers. Jody married the love of her life, Joe Rescinito, on June 30, 1951 in Abingdon IL. He preceded her in death on March 23, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and two sisters.

Jody is survived by both of her children, Rachel (John) Bicego and Sam (Cindy) Rescinito, Galesburg; four grandchildren, Nicole (Matthew) Huels, Joseph Stull, Kelby Rescinito and Alyssa Rescinito; four great-grandchildren, Wynne, Cormac and Joseph Huels; Josslyn Spencer. She was also blessed with grandchildren and great grandchildren from the Bicego and Painter families. Also surviving are 14 nieces and nephews and her brother-in-law, Bill Krogmeier.

Jody grew up in Humboldt IL and graduated from Humboldt High School in 1945. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Eastern IL University in 1949 and her master’s degree from Western IL University in 1973. Jody taught business classes at Abingdon High School for 3 years; Browns Business College for 3 years and Carl Sandburg College for 19 years. She retired in 1986.

Jody was very proud to receive two Carl Sandburg College Awards for Outstanding Faculty in 1986 and Distinguished Service in 1995.

She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish and volunteered many hours at St. Joseph’s Academy and Costa High School when Rachel and Sam were growing up.

After Joe and Jody retired, they moved to Lakeland FL for 21 years before moving back to Galesburg in 2007. She did volunteer work while living in Lakeland and Galesburg. Jody was an accomplished seamstress and was still sewing or knitting until the age of 95. She always loved to read, play card games, and do crossword puzzles. The last year of her life she lived at Hawthorne Inn Assisted Living and enjoyed having new friends and daily activities. Jody was very proud of her family and was always involved in their lives and activities.

Cremation will be accorded. Memorial mass will be on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. Burial of her ashes will be in the Abingdon Cemetery following the mass. The family invites everyone to the Thomas Legacy Center at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory immediately following the burial.

Memorials may be made to Costa Catholic Academy, Hospice Compassus or Carl Sandburg College Business Division. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.
