Joan M. “Jody” Morrissey, 89, of Galesburg, died at 8:12 p.m. Wednesday, January 15, 2020 in Galesburg. Jody was born August 27, 1930 in Monmouth, the daughter of Earl and Mearl (Stickle) Curry.  She married John “Vince” Morrissey on June 19, 1954 at Corpus Christi Church, Galesburg.  He preceded her in death on September 18, 2012.  Jody is survived by two sons, Michael C. (spouse, Cris) Morrissey of Ft. Wayne, IN and John T. “Ted” (Melissa) Morrissey of Sherman, IL; six grandchildren, Zack (Joanna), Ethan (Erin), Spenser (Michelle), Jarod (Chelsea), Brittany, and Manhattan; and two great grandchildren, Aiden and Ezra.  Along with her husband and parents, Jody was preceded in death by six brothers and five sisters. Jody worked at Rowe Manufacturing before spending many years as a stay-at-home wife and mother. When her children were older, she returned to the workforce at Bergner’s in the home decorating department, and then took a position in the Galesburg Clinic business office, where she worked for many years until retirement. An avid golfer, Jody spent many years golfing at Bunker Links Golf Course in Galesburg.  As a devout Catholic, Jody was a longtime and faithful member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church.  She volunteered for several years at the St. Mary Hospital Gift Shop.  She also enjoyed reading.  Funeral Mass will be 2 p.m. Monday, January 20, 2020 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Galesburg.  Father Jacob Rose will officiate.  Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Galesburg.  Memorials may be made to the Milk Fund.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.
