Joan Olson, 72, of Galesburg, died at 12:05 a.m. on Friday, May 14, 2010 at Heartland Health Care, Galesburg. Joan was born on December 10, 1937 in Macomb, the daughter of Joe and Luella Kitch Winter. She married Gus Olson on June 2, 1957 in McDonough County. Surviving Joan is her husband, Gus of Galesburg and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her folks and her in-laws, Carl and Beulah Olson of Bushnell. Joan worked as a waitress at several local restaurants in Galesburg and was secretary at Olson’s in Galesburg. She also assisted her husband at the Gus A. Olson garage of Abingdon for several years. Joan was a charter member of the Knox County Amvets Auxiliary Post 8, serving as secretary and chaplain. She was a member for many years of the Galesburg Motorcycle Club. One of Joan’s biggest loves in life was riding motorcycles and attending motorcycle races with her husband and friends. Funeral services will be held at Watson Funeral Home, Galesburg on Monday, May 17, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Prairie City Cemetery, Prairie City. Visitation will be Sunday from 4-6 p.m. at the funeral home and on Monday from 10 a.m. to the time of the service. Memorials may be made to the Knox County Amvets Post 8 or to the donor’s choice.
