John D. Waddell

John Dana Waddell, age 72, of Oquawka, Illinois passed away peacefully on the 4th of July.  He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Edna. He is survived by his children, Kristen and Caitlin, his grandchildren, and his siblings. Born in Asheboro, North Carolina, John (“JJ”) loved life and didn’t shy away from adventure. He served his country as an aviation equipment specialist during the Vietnam War. He spent his career with the Burlington Northern Railroad, often travelling to remote parts of the country to maintain tracks. If he could be anywhere, it would be on the water, fishing. He will be fondly remembered and sorely missed.
