Joseph J. Sims, Sr., 66, of 311 E. Simmons St., Galesburg, died at 9 a.m. on Friday December 29, 2006 at home.   Joseph was born on October 24, 1940 in Tiskilwa, Illinois the son of Reginald and Mabel Johnson Sims.  He married Catherine Wagner on February 13, 1965 in Princeton.  He later married Ann Hamilton on September 24, 1988.  Surviving are 3 sons:  Joseph (Meleiah) Sims, Jr. of Monmouth, Richard (Kimberly) Sims of Alpha, and James (Jana) Sims of Knoxville; 1 daughter Angela (Randy) Rodgers of Bellevue, IA; 1 brother Donald Sims of Tiskilwa; 2 sisters: Pat Doyle of Belvidere and Marilyn Juggers of Lawrenceberg, TN; 8 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers.    He served in the US Navy from 1960 until 1964 stationed on the USS Saratoga.  He was of the catholic faith.  He worked at the Galva Co-Op for over 15 years, and had last worked at a nursing home in Kewanee.   Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday January 2, 2007 at Watson Funeral Home, with Msgr. Don J. Fitzpatrick, officiating.  Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery, with military honors performed by Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post #285.  Memorials may be made to the family.
