Joseph W. Young

Joseph William Young, 55, of Altona, died at 2:35 p.m. at home Friday, March 21, 2014.  Joe was born November 10, 1958 in Moline, the son of Robert C. and Janet E. (Stromer) Young.  He married Jamalee Teets on May 25, 2002 in East Moline.  Joe is survived by his wife, Jamalee, of Altona; two sons, Joseph (fiancé, Jacque Sproston) Young of Moline, Scott Dodson of Altona; three daughters, Rachel (Steven) Durbin of Altona, Sarah (fiancé, Tony Reyes) Dodson of Moline, and Danielle Dodson of East Moline; and three sisters, Robin (Bob) Taylor of East Moline, Sandie (Bill) Morris of Moline, and Amy (Don) Stogsdill of Moline.  He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Dakota Young, whom Joe was raising, Savannah, William, Hope, Faith, Heavenly, and Kiera.  Joe was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Sandie Lynn Remour on February 5, 2013 and one grandson, Nathaniel Hindal on November 12, 1999. Joe was a great mechanic and loved working on cars.  He also enjoyed repairing computers and loved motorcycles.  Joe was also an avid NASCAR fan.  But most of all he loved being with his family especially his grandchildren. Per Joe’s request, cremation rites will be accorded and a celebration of life will be held Saturday, April 19, 2014 from 5 to 9 p.m. at the East Moline American Legion, 829 16th Ave., East Moline, IL 61244.  Memorials may be made to the family in care of Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, 1849 N. Seminary St., Galesburg, IL 61401.  Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.
