Julie Marie Wood

Julie Marie Wood, 44, of Peoria, died on Sunday, July 3, 2016, 5:06 AM, at her home in Peoria. Julie was born on November 30, 1971 in Galesburg. She was the daughter of Roberta and the late Richard Wood. Julie is survived by her mother, Roberta of Rock Island; daughter, Riana of Rock Island; brother, Chris (Marla) Wood of Monmouth; sister, Janelle (Russell) McCracken of Galesburg; her maternal grandmother, Mary Jo Mularz of Bettendorf; an aunt, Lesa Buck of Davenport; niece, Alyssa Mc Cracken of Galesburg; and two nephews, Mike and Noah Wood, both of Monmouth. She was preceded in death by her father, Richard; maternal grandfather, Robert Sundberg; and her paternal grandparents, Donald and Norma Wood. Julie was raised in Galesburg and attended Galesburg Schools. She graduated from Black Hawk College with an Associate’s degree. She was a member of the Girl Scouts of America, Troop #451 for twelve years. Julie was also interested in making jewelry and Native American Culture. She loved spending time with her friends and family. She was deeply loved and will be forever missed by those who love her. Per the family’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service for Julie will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2016, 11 AM at Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the memorial service. A private family burial of cremated remains will be held at a later date. Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory have been entrusted with the arrangements. Memorials in Julie’s honor may be given to the family for a charity at a later date.
