June Marie Lasley, 80, of Galesburg, passed away on Monday, September 12, 2022 at OSF Richard Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, Illinois.

She was born December 24, 1941 in Monmouth, Illinois, the daughter of Benjamin and Clara (Brentise) Shultz. June was reared in Monmouth and attended Monmouth-Roseville High School. She worked as a seamstress at Carhartt, formerly known as Gross Galesburg Co., for about 20 years, until her retirement in 1999. After retirement, June worked for the Galesburg Register Mail delivering newspapers to keep herself busy. She married Leonard P. Lasley on January 27, 1967 in Monmouth. He preceded her in death on May 21, 2019.

Left to cherish June’s memory are two sons, Caroll (Tammy) Vanskike, Jr. of Monmouth and Roger (Tonya Lytle) Lasley of Galesburg; three daughters: Teresa Vanskike of Lewistown, Illinois, Christina Vanskike and Laura Conner, both of Galesburg; 12 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her sister, Gertrude Henson of Galesburg; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 52 years, Leonard Lasley; three sisters: Letha Wilson, Rose Johnson, and Sharon Jones; two brothers, Benjamin F. Lasley Jr. and Benjamin E. Lasley; a son-in-law, Rich Conner; and a great-grandson, Xavier Lasley-Thompson.

June loved going on morning walks to start her day, cooking for her family and spending quality time with them. She enjoyed taking photos to put in her scrapbooks, going to Broadview Restaurant in downtown Galesburg with her family, and browsing on The Bradford Exchange to add items to her collectibles. June was an avid collector of anything Elvis Presley or Princess Diana. Her nicknames were “Junebug” or sometimes “Dynamite” because she was small but mighty. June was a devoted and caring wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend and she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Cremation will be accorded. A celebration of June’s life will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Memorials may be made to the family.
