Kathryn A. Shiner, 97, of 800 N. Market St., Knoxville, formerly of Galesburg, died at 4:30 a.m. on Thursday November 16, 2006 at Knox County Nursing Home.    Kathryn was born on April 19, 1909 in St. David, IL the daughter of Joseph and Phillipina Sepich Shragal.  She married Joseph T. Shiner on July 26, 1925 in Canton, IL.  He died on June 16, 1970.  Surviving are 2 daughters- Gloria Carothers and Nadene Rosenberg both of Galesburg; 1 brother Robert S. Shragal of Galesburg. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 20 great great grandchildren, and 1 great great great grandchild.  She was preceded in death by 5 brothers and 3 sisters.    She attended Carl Sandburg College.  Kathryn worked as a government inspector with Chicago Ordinance District during WWII at Midwest Manufacturing in Galesburg .  She was part owner of East Main Bowl and Midway Tavern in Galesburg for 45 years.  She then worked as a medical nurse at OSF St. Mary’s Hospital for 15 years until she retired.   She was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, the Altar and Rosary Society, the third order of the lay Carmelites and led the rosary 2 days a week.  She was also a member of the Eagles Lodge, Moose Lodge #880, and Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post #285 Auxiliary.   Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday November 18, 2006 at Corpus Christi Church with the Reverend Joseph Presley, officiating.  Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Friday at Watson Funeral Home, with the rosary being prayed at 8 p.m.  Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Galesburg.  Memorials may be made to the Knox County Nursing Home or Corpus Christi Church.
