Kathryn L. Monzo

Kathryn L. Monzo, 88, of Galesburg, died at 3:29 a.m. Saturday, August 3, 2013 at Seminary Manor. Kathryn was born July 2, 1925 in Galesburg, the daughter of William R. and Fontella Elizabeth (West) Parmenter.  She married Joe Monzo on September 19, 1942 in Kahoka, MO.  He preceded her in death on July 26, 2005.  Kathryn is survived by one daughter, JoAnne (David) Nelson of Galesburg; two brothers, Roger (Mary Jane) and Joseph (Barbara) Parmenter, both of Galesburg; three sisters, Laura Clevenger of East Galesburg, Carol Cutts of Galesburg, and Colleen Cochran of Peoria; two grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and one daughter, Sandra Trotter. Kathryn enjoyed life to the fullest and loved to be around people.  After her and Joe retired they traveled all around the United States.  She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Thursday, August 8, 2013 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.  Rev. Msgr. Ernest Pizzamiglio will officiate.  Burial will follow in East Linwood Cemetery.  No visitation is planned.  Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
