He was the son of J. Elzie and Emma Jane Meredith Hughes. He married Ginger Burgess of Pocahontas, Arkansas. They later divorced. He then married Carrie Cromer of Galesburg, and then later married Becky Kilburn of Berwick. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Margaretta “Greek” Ward, five brothers, Gene, Garland, Myron, Richard and Bill. Kenny was a 1956 graduate of Roseville High School. He worked for Briggs Manufacturing as an Inspector until his retirement in 2001. While working at Briggs, he served as Union President and Shop Chairman for the Machinists. He has worked for the past 15 years for VNA services. Kenny loved to play golf, fish, shoot pool. He enjoyed a spirit every now and then; going on fishing trips and to St. Louis Cardinals games with his nephew, Junior. Kenny had a fun and adventurous spirit, and he will be greatly missed. Kenny has been reunited with his buddies, Rodger Quinn, Butch Lawson, and George Brown for their fishing trip in the sky. However, Kenny will have to bait the hooks. "His name is not Kenny Hughes, its 'Tennis Shoes'." Per Kenny’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2018 from 12-4 PM at the Corner Connection, 208 E Simmons Street, Galesburg, Illinois.
