Kevin E. Boone

Kevin Earl Boone, 67, of Galesburg, died at 2:55 p.m. on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, surrounded by his family at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

He was born June 1, 1956 in Galesburg, the son of Earl Francis and Marjorie Nora Ann (Crouse) Boone. Kevin was reared and educated in Galesburg, graduating from high school in 1974. In his younger years, he worked at various restaurants over the years. Kevin also worked as a machinist at Chrome Crankshaft for about 6 years. Lastly, he worked as a conductor for BNSF Railroad for 27 years, retiring in 2020.

Left to cherish his memory are two brothers: Arthur (Connie) Boone of Wataga, Illinois and Richard (Daphne Johnson) Boone of Moline, Illinois; and one sister, Kathlyn Boone of Galesburg. Also surviving are six nieces: LaVella, Afiya, Aaliyah, Melanie, Samantha, and Holly; four nephews: Chris, Danny, Kevin, and Marcus; numerous great nieces and nephews; one uncle, LeRoy Boone of Galesburg; and two aunts: Louise Brady of Louisville, Kentucky and Mary Lou Boone of Knoxville, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Kevin enjoyed raising coonhounds and running field trials. He also liked hunting. Kevin played fast pitch softball for many years. He was a member of Alpha Lodge #155 A.F.&A.M. in Galesburg. Kevin’s giving and kind nature carried on in his death as he was able to be an organ and tissue donor through Gift of Hope.

Cremation will be accorded. Graveside services are pending and will be held in the Spring of 2024. Memorials may be made to Quad Cities Greyhound Adoption.
