Kris E. Simmons, 66 of Galesburg, died on Saturday, January 12, 2019, 4:22 AM, at Galesburg Cottage Hospital. Kris was born on October 17, 1952 in Galesburg. He was the son of Harold and Mary Lou (Landon) Simmons. Kris married Debbie Weinberg on September 5, 1971, in Galesburg. Together they celebrated 47 years of marriage. Kris is survived by his loving wife; two sons, Eric Simmons and Chad (Amy) Simmons, both of Galesburg; seven brothers, Gerry (Diane) Simmons, Mike (Paula) Simmons, Danny (Joanie) Simmons, Ricky (Linda) Simmons, Jeff (Nancy) Simmons, Kurt (Kathy) Simmons and Harold Simmons, Jr.; two sisters, Patty Butler and Lynne (Ronnie) Corbin; and two grandsons, Connor and Logan. He was preceded in death by his parents. Kris was a veteran of the US Army. He worked as a conductor for the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad for 20 years; retiring in 2010. Kris loved to fish, hunt, golf, go bowling. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. He loved to watch the Bears and NASCAR. Most importantly, he loved to spend time with his family, especially his grand babies. Cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2019, 2 PM, at the Elks Club, 1640 N Henderson St. #E, Galesburg. Arrangements have been trusted with Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Memorials may be donated to the family.
