Laura M. Stark

Laura M. Stark, 96, of 122 Lakeview Dr., East Galesburg, formerly of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, died at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 17, 2008 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.   Laura was born on February 13, 1912 in Alexandria, LA the daughter of Jonathan and Hattie Belle Hatfield Berlin.  She married David Stark on July 3, 1938 in New Orleans, LA.  He preceded her in death on December 8, 1981.  Surviving Laura are, her daughter, Dandy (Bill) Spence of East Galesburg; 2 grandsons, David Spence of Galesburg and Robert Spence of Joliet; a granddaughter, Melissa Spence of East Galesburg, whom had been Laura’s caregiver; 4 great grandchildren, Madison, William, Morgan, and Isabella.   Laura was a homemaker.  She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the catholic woman’s association, the Democratic woman’s society, and the royal neighbors for many years, all in New Smyrna Beach.    Cremation rites have been accorded.  No services are planned.  Burial of ashes will be at a later date in Alexandria, LA.  Watson Funeral Home, Galesburg is in charge of arrangements.
