Lauren Aliza Devine, 23, of Galesburg died at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, July 9, 2010 at home. Lauren was born on November 24, 1986 in Bangor, Maine the daughter of Timothy P. and Teresa Casselberry Devine. Lauren never walked or spoke a word or had a job.  Yet, she saw much of the country.  She lived in Maine, Vermont, Massachusetts, California and finally Illinois.  She visited Florida, Montana, Wisconsin, and Colorado.  Even though a word was never spoken, she expressed volumes with her eyes.  She deeply understood and communicated compassion, acceptance, patience, and love beyond measure. She never had a job, yet no one ever worked harder.  She certainly worked hard to deal with her physical challenges.  Her life work, however, was her greatest endeavor.  She was an excellent teacher, for those willing to listen with their hearts.  The depth, strength, and gentleness of her spirit was undeniable, humbling, and inspiring.  She loved and is loved completely. Lauren is survived by her mother, Teresa (and Tom Doty) Devine of Galesburg; her father, Timothy (and David Anderson) Devine of Seattle, WA; her paternal grandparents, Pat (and Katy) Devine of Des Moines, IA.  She is also survived by 2 uncles, Michael Devine of LaCrosse, WI and Jerry (and Patti) Casselberry of Monroe, WI; and 4 cousins.  Lauren was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Donald and Dorothy Casselberry. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m .Saturday July 17, 2010 at Watson Funeral Home, where friends and will gather a half an hour prior to the services.  Rev. Susan Henderson will officiate.  Interment will be at a later date in Oak Hill Cemetery, Mt. Carroll.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Praireland Animal Welfare Center.
