Lawrence M. “Larry” McCann, 74, of Altona, died on Thursday, July 19, 2018, 11:17 PM, at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Chicago.  Larry was born on August 31, 1943, in Burlington, Iowa. He was the son of Anthony F. and Eulalia B. (Cramer) McCann. Larry married Mary Ann Eaton on March 17, 1962 in Abingdon. They later divorced. Larry is survived by the love of his life, Rita Gravis, Altona; two sons, Anthony (Jeanie) McCann of Altona, and William (Jean) McCann of Montreal; two daughters, Teresa (Ray) Tucker of Oneida and Linda (Tony) Logan of Oak Run; two step-daughters, Tonia (Tony) Wright and Terri Link, both of Florida; a brother, Joseph (Janet) McCann of Oquawka; a sister, Mary (David) Hoffman of Kankakee; nineteen grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Fred McCann, Bob McCann and John McCann; and two sisters, Anna Strange and Lois Foust.  Larry was an “over the road” truck driver for over forty years. He retired in 2014. He was a 3rd Degree Member for the Monmouth Knights of Columbus, a member of the Abingdon Boat Club, and an Auxiliary Police Officer for the Warren County Sheriff’s Department.  One of his favorite hobbies was fishing. He loved to tell “tall fishing tales,” was always a jokester and quick witted with a quip. He leaves behind his four-legged pals Gabby, Bentley, and his special pal, Digger. He was a fan of Dale Earnhardt and Earnhardt, Jr; and above all, he was an AVID fan of the St. Louis Cardinals.  Visitation for Larry will be on Monday, July 23, 2018, from 5-7 PM at Watson-Thomas Funeral Home, and from 10-10:45 AM, Tuesday.  Funeral Service will be held 11 AM on Tuesday, July 24, 2018, at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded after services. A private family burial of cremated remains will be held at a later date. Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg have been entrusted with the arrangements. Memorials may be donated to the family.
