Layne Laswell

Layne Laswell, 70, of Galesburg passed away at 3:15 p.m., Saturday, July 19 at his home. He was born August 1, 1943 in Galesburg to Keith and Bernyce Ayers Laswell and married Barb Freeman in 1983 in Galesburg. She survives. Layne is also survived by four step-children, Dawn (Barry) Watkins of Burlington, IA, Robin Barnes of Galesburg, Mary (John) Thole of North Liberty, IA, and James (Jennifer) Woollums of Tampa, FL; his brother, Merle (Bonnie) Laswell of Galesburg; his sister JoAnn of Moline; a son-in-law, Chuck Kinkaid of Galesburg, as well as fifteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Michelle Keime and Kimberly Kinkaid; and a brother, Michael Laswell. Layne worked for many years as a truck driver with Eby Brown, and most recently worked lake patrol and security at Oak Run. A visitation will be from 5-8 Wednesday, July 23 at Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory. Cremation will follow the visitation. Memorials may be made to Beacon of Hope Hospice or a charity of the donor's choice.
