Leon Everett Haneghan, 73, of Galesburg, formerly of Moon Towers, died at 12:21 a.m., November 1, 2010 at Heartland Healthcare Center.    He was born September 21, 1937 in Warsaw, IL, the son of Joseph and Hazel Miller Haneghan.  He married Pat Smith in 1957.  Survivors include, a son, Kevin Haneghan of Galesburg; three daughters, Tami (and Mike) Lawson, Wendy (and David) Hess all of Galesburg, and Kellie Thurman of Alpha.  Also surviving are five brothers, Carl Haneghan, Jim Haneghan, Jerry Haneghan all of Galesburg, Steve Haneghan of Springfield, Missouri, and Bill Haneghan of Davenport, Iowa; two sisters, Jane Wessels and Gloria Milan both of Galesburg; 6 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren.  Leon and his wife also helped raise six special nieces and nephews, they survive which include; Mike (and Victoria) Campbell, Danny (and Bonnie) Campbell, Linda (and Harry) Arvantis, Terri (and Harold) Saline, Steve (and Patty) Campbell, and Cathy (Lindell) Marsh.  He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Leo Haneghan, Joseph Haneghan Jr., and Robert Haneghan; and two sisters, Alice Estrada and Dorothy Haneghan.    Leon graduated from Galesburg High School and worked at Gates Rubber Company for 35 years, retiring in 1999.  He was of Catholic faith.     Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, November 4, 2010 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, with the Rev. William Miller officiating.  Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Watson Funeral Home; with the rosary being led by Deacon Rod Gray at 7 p.m. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to St. Patrick’s Church.
