Lester G. Webber

Lester G. Webber, 90, of Galesburg, died at 5:55 a.m. Wednesday, August 07, 2013, at Marigold Health Care Center. Lester was born February 26, 1923 in Galesburg, the son of Theodore and Loretta (Smith) Webber.  He married Shirley Jo Madigan on February 9, 1946 in Galesburg.  She preceded him in death on October 7, 2007. Lester is survived by four sons, Timothy (Jo Ann) of Brimfield, Thomas (Kendall), Jeffrey (Nancy), and James (Amber) all of Galesburg; one daughter, Leslie Jo Haynes of Galesburg; 10 grand children; and 17 great grandchildren. Lester worked as a truck driver for Gunther Construction in Galesburg for 35 years.  He was a member of Elks Lodge #894 and Oak Run Tuesday night golf league.  He truly enjoyed being with his friends and family.  He was a faithful contributor to St. Jude’s and American Cancer Society.  When Lester was in high school he was quite the athlete, receiving 9 varsity letters while playing football and basketball, running track, and swimming. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Galesburg.  Deacon Rod Gray will officiate.  Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude’s or American Cancer Society.  Funeral services have been entrusted to Watson-Thomas Funeral Home, Galesburg.
