Lester "Sonny" Shreeves

Lester L. “Sonny” Shreeves, 77, of Knoxville, passed away peacefully at 3:44 a.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at Heartland Health Care and Rehab, Galesburg. Sonny was born February 26, 1941 in Galesburg, the son of Richard L. and Hildegard (Lemke) Shreeves. He married Nancy J. Erlandson on September 1, 1972 in Galesburg. Sonny is survived by his wife of 46 years, Nancy of Knoxville; one sister, Tyke McCoy of Gilson; two nephews, Randy (Tracy) McCoy of Knoxville and Rodney (Sherry) McCoy of Maquon; one niece, Jane (Tyler) Moore of Springfield, MO; two great nephews and two great nieces. Sonny was a proud 50 year member of Teamsters Local 627 working as a truck driver for Rogers Bros, Galesburg Construction, Cedar Co., Arrow Construction Materials, and retired from Galesburg Ready Mix in 2003. Sonny enjoyed being outdoors fishing. He and a group of friends traveled to Rend Lake in Southern Illinois on fishing trips for many years. Cremation rites will be accorded. Graveside services will be 12:30 p.m. Saturday, November 24, 2018 at Memorial Park Cemetery, Galesburg. Pastor Jordan Knight will officiate. A celebration of life will follow at the Thomas Legacy Center at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Memorials may be made to the Guardian Angels Humane Society or Hospice Compassus.
