Linda L. Fitzsimmons

Linda Lou Fitzsimmons, 82, of Galesburg, died at 11:55 p.m. Monday, February 8, 2021 at Seminary Manor, Galesburg. Linda was born May 29, 1938 in Ottumwa, IA the daughter of Jesse Earl and Rena Mae (Lewis) Young.  She married Robert E. Fitzsimmons, Sr. on September 21, 1958 in Ottumwa, IA.  He preceded her in death on March 28, 2010.  Linda is survived by two sons, Robert E. (Rita) Fitzsimmons and Roger K. (Carrie) Fitzsimmons both of Galesburg; one daughter, Stephanie Kevesic of Springfield; four grandchildren, Brandy Hossain, Andrew Farris, Kate Cross, and Patrick Fitzsimmons; and nine great grandchildren.  Linda is also survived by two brothers, Jesse E. (Mary) Young and Kenneth Young both of Iowa; and one sister, Karen (Gerry) Moore of Arizona.  Along with her husband and parents, Linda was preceded in death by one daughter and son-in-law, Cecilee and Steve Farris. Linda graduated from Ottumwa High School and attended Beauty School.  She worked for a short time as a beautician.  She then went to work for the Galesburg Mental Health Center for 17 years and went to work at Zeller Mental Health for 13 ½ years prior to retiring.  Linda was a life-long St. Louis Cardinals fan and was active in Eastern Star and White Shrine. Cremation will be accorded.  Burial of cremated remains will be at a later date at Wataga Cemetery, Wataga.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.  Memorials may be made to Beacon of Hope Hospice.
