Lois Rose (Guebert) McQueen, 66, 1067 Knox Rd 300E, Galesburg, Illinois, died Monday, March 22, 2010, after a five year battle with bone cancer.   Lois was born at home near Hecker, Illinois, on February 10, 1944, to Carl and Esther (Werner) Guebert.  She grew up on a dairy farm near Red Bud, Illinois.  She completed her elementary education at St. John’s Lutheran School in Red Bud and graduated from Waterloo High School in 1962.  Lois earned a Bachelor Degree from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, Illinois, and a Masters Degree from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana, Illinois.  She married Joel McQueen on June 10, 1973, in Las Vegas, Nevada.  Lois taught Home Economics at ROWVA High School in Oneida, Illinois, for 28 years where she was also an FHA Advisor. She then became a kitchen and bath designer for Holt Supply Company, Galesburg, Illinois, until her retirement in 2004.  She was an active member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, Mt Calvary Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML), and the Knox County Home Economists.  Her hobbies included gardening, traveling, water-color painting, and water aerobics. Survivors include her husband, Joel; sisters, Judy (Charles) Meyr and Kathy (Tom) Murray both of St. Louis, MO; brothers, John (Judy) of Arnold, MO, Steve (Carol) of Marshall, VA, David (Alice) Red Bud, Tom (Barbara) of Carlyle, Roger of Millstadt; mother-in-law Vivian McQueen of Galesburg; brother-in-law Jerald McQueen of Galesburg; sister-in-law Judy (Glenn) Stevens of Altona; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.  Lois was preceded in death by her parents and three great-nephews.  Visitation will be on Thursday, March 25, at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, 1372 West Fremont, Galesburg, IL 61401 from 12 noon to 2:00 p.m. with a service to follow at 2:30 p.m. Interment of ashes will be on Friday, March 26, at 10:00 a.m. at Westfall Cemetery, rural Victoria, Illinois.  Memorials may be made to Mt. Calvary LWML or to the Guardian Angels Humane Society, Box 94, Galesburg, IL 61402.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Funeral Home, Galesburg.
