Louis L. Goodman peacefully passed away at home surrounded by family and love at 2:00 a.m. September 28, 2016. He courageously battled illness the past 7 years. He was born to Homer and Ruby Colbert Goodman September 25, 1939 on Buncombe Mountain outside Belvidere Tennessee. Louie, as he was known to friends, moved to Illinois when he was fourteen. He worked various jobs as a teenager and young man. He made his career at Maytag. Louie started as an assembler and finished his career as a general foreman, working for more than 30 years before retiring. Louie enjoyed riding his Harleys, his dogs, fishing and living life. Above all, he had the biggest of hearts and loved his family. Louie married Nancy Neave on November 29, 1958. He later married Gloria Kent in 1976. She preceded him in death. He is survived by his children Carol Goodman Marshall, Scott (Andy) and his wife Martha Goodman, all of Galesburg and David (Julie) Goodman of Creve Coeur IL. He is also survived by his sister Peggy Williams of Huntland TN, 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his brother Kenneth Goodman, his parents, and grandparents Robert and Pearl Brannum Colbert who helped raise him. Services will be at Watson Thomas Funeral Home with visitation from 12-2 p.m. and funeral service immediately to follow at 2 p.m. Cremation rites will be accorded following services. Memorials may be made to the Guardian Angels, Knox County Humane Society, or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
