Louise L. Smith

Louise L. “Lou” Smith, 88, of 2058 Christine Drive, Galesburg, died at 5:09 a.m. September 8, 2006 at Cottage Hospital, Galesburg.    She was born on August 23, 1918 in Galesburg, IL the daughter of Michael P. and Lelia Hendricks Rice.  She married Warren Allen, he died in 1970.  She married Wes Smith in 1972, and he died in 1993.  She was preceded in death by 2 daughters; Pamela L. Nelson  in 1992, and Sandra J. Redington in 2004, 1 brother, 2 sisters, and 1 granddaughter.  Surviving are 4 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.   She worked at the Labor News for 13 years and farmed all of her adult life.  She was a member of the Fulton County Farm Bureau and The Immaculate Heart of Mary Church.  She was also a member of the Ladies of Mary.   Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 13 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Galesburg.  Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday September 12, at the funeral home with a rosary service at 8 p.m.  Burial will be in St. Joseph’s cemetery, Galesburg.  Memorials can be made to Cottage Dialysis Unit or Immaculate Heart of Mary Church.
