Lucinda S. Sanchez

Lucinda Sue Sanchez, 66, of Galesburg, Illinois, died peacefully at home, Saturday, February 8, 2025 at 7:05 p.m.

Cindy was born January 7, 1959 in Carthage, Illinois, the daughter of William H. and V. Dellene (Nelson) Payne, Jr. Lucinda and Jerry V. Sanchez were married on July 16, 1983 in Macomb, Illinois.

Cindy is survived by her husband of 41 years, Jerry of Galesburg; one daughter, Christina Sanchez of Galesburg; fourteen grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Randy Payne of Plymouth, Illinois; and three sisters, Pam (Rob) Powell of Colchester, Illinois, Brenda Payne of Macomb, Illinois, and Roberta (Stan) Ault of North Carolina. Cindy was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Nichola Sanchez Warrington on November 13, 2021; and three brothers, Victor, Jeffrey, and William.

Cindy was long dedicated and proud of her work in housekeeping, working many years at hotels, later spending 15 years at Heartland Health Care and the last 2 at Marigold. Each day she took pride in knowing she was helping others have a better day. Cindy also worked 15 years alongside her husband Jerry in his contracting work. She was a proud and wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother, and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. In her free time, Cindy enjoyed sewing and completing crossword puzzles.

Cremation will be accorded. A celebration of life will be held later in the spring. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.
